About Greg Dickins

This website serves both as a photographic archive and log of current work by Greg Dickins.

Established in October 2006, this photo yearbook will cover several decades of photographic work. But it is being built from both ends.

Starting with 1970 and looking foreward through contact sheets and work prints, the most interesting pictures are  scanned from negatives and transparencies then posted in galleries year by year.

At the same time, promising pictures from current work will be posted alternately.

I am also categorising pictures in those areas that I am specially following.

Use the Browse button and use the Select Category dropdown list to choose a year – or subject.

I have an (almost) life-long fascination with the visual arts and practice of photography.
Although working as a journalist and media consultant for most of my career I have maintained day-to-day involvement with practical photography. Although flirting briefly with aspects of professional photography, I decided on reflection, to reserve my photo energies for my own interests and work.
I took up photography in my late teens, in the late 1960s, working with 35mm SLR cameras. This was the same time the format began its domination of the photographic world. Since then I have maintained a permanent darkroom, working mostly in black & white.
In 2004, after watching the development of digital cameras for five years, I guessed the time was right to try the new medium.
